Museum News and Briefs Extended Museum Hours During Summer
This is the 2nd year the museum has been open to the public. More and more school groups, youth organizations, adult groups and families are utilizing our facility and services, and are always quick to comment on the kind attention and good feelings they get from our staff and volunteers. In an effort to be an even greater resource to our community, we are extending the museum's open hours for the summer months.
The Museum will be open 4 days per week from July 1 - September 1. Beginning July 1 the museum will be open to the public Wednesday through Saturday 11 am to 4 pm. We are also willing to make special arrangements and/or appointments for visitors so please call the museum at (805) 614-0806 if you would like to visit the museum on another day.
THE MUSEUM IS SEEKING DONATIONS
The Natural History Museum is looking for a donation of office equipment from generous individuals or businesses. At this time we have a need for a 35 mm carousel slide projector and a four-drawer filing cabinet. These items are very important to us but we cannot fit them into our budget. Please contact us at (805) 614-0806 if you are able to make a donation. The museum depends upon your generosity to provide better service to our community.
RAFFLE WINNERS
During the 2000 Grapes and Grain Festival the Natural History Museum sold raffle tickets to our visitors as a fundraiser. Here are the winners:
* Richard Chenowith won a painting by Frank Gray
* Paloma Nieto won a painting by Jackie Petrasich
* Hall, Hurley and Deutsch Architect Company won an engraved bottle of wine by TLC Glass and filled by Rideau Vinery from Santa Ynez
Congratulations to our winners!!! And thank you to everyone who purchased tickets. We appreciate your support.
SPECIAL THANK YOU!
The Natural History Museum would like to thank Ms. Becky Hoban who donated the bird nests and Mr. Glenn Van Houten who donated amazing collections from his exploration. We also would like to thank Mr. Dave Long for giving us great ideas about writing the article about Seashore and Sealife.
